Be it ever so humble...

...there's no place like home. As I talked with my friends about my experience in D.C. -- and how it made me appreciate Philly in a new way -- they all had similar experiences... in different cities. How about you? What city made you re-appreciate Philadelphia?

Ah, the grids of Philly and New York, how I miss them. Out here in helL.A. we've got diagonal streets, multiple streets with the same name (Beverly Drive and Beverly Blvd, for example), and streets that have different names depending on which side of a cross-street you're looking at! Downtown is a grid, though, so you should be okay for Wizard World. :)

In Response to cmurrin (#41039):

I worked in the D.C. area for three years and without fail if I deviated from my set path to work I would become extremely lost every time.

A close second to D.C. however, was Atlanta. I swear, is every other street named Peachtree or some variation thereof?

I have to say of all the cities I visit regularly, Philly is one of the best laid out street-wise. Other than my issue with always getting trapped going to Camden via the Ben Franklin when I first get to town, I've never had a problem. But I'd still advise anyone to get a SEPTA pass and leave the driving to a professional and you don't have to worry about parking.

DC is one of the more confusing places to get around. It is said the design is to make it difficult for an invading army to find a direct route to the capital. Since I have problems finding anything in DC by car I tend to believe that. I avoid driving in DC like the plague and use the Metro as much as possible. But seeing that you a lot of stuff to bring with you I can see the need to drive to the Con and your Hotel. Hope you had fun at the con!
