Window dressing

Sunday, January 13, 2008 - 11:48 PM

Although the person who encouraged me to do today's Phable spoke about it as a "South Philly thing" -- and it's definitely prevalent in that neighborhood -- I've noticed it all over as I'm running errands around the city. It's as strong a tradition in Frankford, for example, as it is in Fairmount.

So, here's your chance to showcase some of the best. Or the worst.

If there's a house you pass by that really does it up to the nines, take a photo and send it to me. I'll post them in this thread.

Wildlife in the city

Monday, January 07, 2008 - 12:20 AM

You'd really be surprised how much wildlife you can find in the city. Just a couple months ago, I nearly ran over an opossum about three blocks from my house.

And from my front window, I can often see a pigeon being plucked off the street by a swooping falcon or hawk.

If you have any similar urban wildlife stories, feel free to post them here or drop me an e-mail.
